Never before have I met such wonderful people in my life! I had, as always, no idea what to expect from the meeting. We sat there for one hour and waited (after going by taxi without seatbelt, as usual) and nothing happened. Then the important guests showed up.
This meeting was like an introduction for these women on what the organisation for invalids in Irpin community do and how we help people. This international women club have sponsored the organisation with money this year, and needed some valuable proof on what the organisation accomplished. So the woman behind all great work - Luda - had put together an powerpoint-presentation with pictures and information.
All through this presentation the women were talking and talking and talking. And when they were not talking they put more money then a normal working Ukrainian earns in a month in the moneybox for us to use for materials. And when they were not putting money in the box they were talking about how we will get a big table at their christmasbazaar to let other people in the community and in Kiev see the great work the organisation does.
They were so happy with all the work and to see what the money they've sponsored goes to. They were so interested in listening to our ideas and thoughts and they kept on talking about different things they could help us with. I don't know if I've ever met such great people, actually.
And best of all - they spoke in english, so I could actually for once understand everything!! Although I didn't understand they were talking english until the other volunteer whispered in my ear that they were speaking in english. That's what happens when you listen to ukrainian non stop all days...
